Bostead Farm
Every map is a record of how we understand the land — its contours, its water, its soil, its potential. These are the documents we work from.
Full Property — Contour Map
Primary topographic survey of the full Bostead Farm property. Shows index and intermediate contours at 100 ft intervals, creek drainage lines, and property boundary.
Grazing Management Zones
Divides the grazing land into rotation paddocks. Tracks rest periods, stocking density targets, and seasonal movement of cattle and chickens through the system.
Swales, Ponds & Earthworks
Documents all water-harvesting earthworks — swales on contour, the main pond, overflow spillways, and subsurface drainage paths. Essential for drought planning.
Perennial Planting Zones
Layout of the food forest with canopy, understory, shrub, and ground cover layers. Shows guild plantings, nitrogen fixers, and harvest zones.
Texture, Depth & Organic Matter
Soil sampling results mapped across the property. Identifies clay-heavy bottomland, sandy ridge soils, and the deep loam zones best suited for annual vegetable production.
Roads, Fences & Buildings
All built infrastructure — farm roads, fence lines, gates, buildings, water lines, and electrical runs. Used for maintenance planning and new construction layout.
Vegetable Beds & Crop Rotation
Bed-by-bed layout of the annual vegetable garden with three-year crop rotation plan. Tracks brassica, nightshade, allium, and legume families across seasons.
Topographic — North Parcel
Detailed topographic survey of the north ridgeline parcel. Higher resolution contours showing the steeper terrain, rock outcroppings, and spring seep locations.
Maps are updated as surveys are completed and the farm evolves. Real survey images and hand-drawn maps will replace placeholders as they are digitized.
